Please excuse me if ive brought to your notice yet another ad & the deep underlying stuff that i see in a few seconds of footage 🙂
I remember, Surf Excel, one of the leading detergent manufacturers came up with this new idea of “Daag Achhe Hain!!” -which means in Hindi- Stains are Good!! And the ad primarily focusses on how a kid,(on knowing that his school teacher is absent at school cuz she has lost her pet) visits his teachers house, and attempts everything possible to make her smile!! Finally he starts playing around in mud, like a pup, soiling his clothes big time.. just so that his teacher smiles 😊
OMG, what an awesome concept!! The happy go lucky attitude of this 8 or 9 yr old, who cares a darn about anything else but his teachers smile, is brought into spotlight for promoting what?? A detergent brand that promotes stains 🙂
What if each one of us had this happy go lucky attitude?? And what if we also saw the stains in positive light, and looked forward to the fun that causes them in the very first place?
In Coaching, we call this as reframing of perspectives!!
It’s like why worry about the stains?? Lets just enjoy the rain, guys!!
Sounds cliched but that is exactly what it means when they say “Failure is a stepping stone to Success”
Lets just try this out!! Lets say this statement 5 to 8 times ” WOWWW !! I FAILED !!”
The 2 words just dont seem to go together!! Ok!! now lets read this n see if it makes any sense!!
Woww!! I failed!! Cant believe it na, i really failed!! After preparing for an entire year I failed to get a decent GRE Score !! It was really awesome!! Thank god i failed that day in December 2006, else i would ve been a Civil Engineer with a MS Degree, from some supercool university in the US,totally stuck up in the wrong profession!!
Wowww!!! I Failed!!!
Does that make any sense now??
Every “Not so happy” outcome of our life has a brighter side!! Think about it..
The player who cud not make that one run to cheer his team to a win, the student who scored few marks less and missed that first class, or a dyslexic kid who ended up flunking in all his papers – not necessarily all of them screwed up their life, unless they really intended to….
If each one of us, dumps our worrisome hat & just views each situation as a lesson learned, our life will be so much more light!!
Are we carrying the baggage of our failures, hating ourselves, each time we remember about things that went wrong in our life? The various so called blunders that we make at work are not meant to make our own life hell friends!! Maybe the lives of our bosses 🙂 on a lighter note 🙂
So the next time we catch ourselves getting worried / upset at the outcome of any crappy situation, lets just celebrate our happy go lucky attitude by saying out loud – Daag Achhe Hain!!
N Dont forget to buy a packet of Surf Excel on your way back home, as a token of gratitude towards the creation of this beautiful ad 🙂
